Traders Pull Forward the AI Release Calendar

Markets now bet GPT-6, OpenAI's Astra, and the next Mythos-class model all arrive sooner than they thought a week ago, even as the Fed stays split on September and traders start pricing a December hike too.

The odds of GPT-6 shipping by September 30 jumped to 48%, up 18 points on the day and 12 over the week, while an October 31 release climbed to 65% (+20 points). OpenAI's Astra moved in step, with a September 15 debut now priced at 68% (+12 on the day, +24 on the week). The next Mythos-class model sits at 66% for a September 9 release, up 40 points over seven days despite a 5-point overnight pullback. Markets aren't only pricing AI speed — they're pricing distance from ports too: Bab el-Mandeb traffic forecasts swung hard, with the 190-209-ship range surging 20 points to 44% as the 210-229 bracket collapsed 38 points to 10%. Meanwhile the Fed's September 'no change' bet slipped to 50% (-5), and a December hike now leads its own market at 48% (+2, +21 on the week).
